The Not Spring Writes Literary Festival Comedy Show

Comedy on the Commons is back! Bringing you the best Upstate, and Central New York Comedians!

But, Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh……………….. This show is a secret!

AND, We need to make sure that YOU know The NOT Spring Writes Literary Arts Festival Comedy Show is not supported, endorsed, or sanctioned by the Spring Writes Literary Arts Festival, The Park Foundation, CAP, The Clinton Foundation, or Svante Myrick’s Tinder Account….. Ok, maybe the Mayor’s Tinder account would be down for this.

We know….. The NOT Spring Writes Literary Arts Festival Comedy Show is right dab smack in the middle of the Spring Writes Literary Arts Festival, and…. it has some of our favorite, Springy Artsy Literary people who write, as well as a touring comic or two, but is in no way associated with the Spring Writes Arts Festival.

Seriously this show is NOT associated in any way with Spring Writes….  So you don’t have to tell Robin….. Please…

But we do have some people on The NOT Spring Writes Literary Arts Festival Comedy Show who have been in, and are currently involved in this year’s Spring Writes Literary Arts Festival…… and

Hosted by Kenneth McLaurin, Ithaca’s favorite comedian!

Featuring Chris Holmes the only person who can streak standing still.  Don’t worry, this is a clothes on show. However, we have agreed that body paint is technically clothing.

Michelle Courtney Berry Berry is an author, speaker, trainer, coach, actor, performing artist, poet, nature lover, and now comedian who helps improve the quality of people’s lives by helping them manage stress, time, conflict, and competing priorities.

Michael Roberts is a storyteller and a “Trampoline” favorite. His stories are always hilarious.  Sometimes, I wonder if he puts himself in those situations just his stories will always be better than yours.

Brandon Fortunberry, only comes out once a year to do comedy, but when he comes it is waaaaaaaaay better than a Cranberry Almond Endive Cup

Closing out the show is comedian Angalia Petrillo, from Scranton PA.  Angalia, has been making a name for herself performing throughout PA, Upstate and Central NY.  She is bold, she is funny, she is pulls no punches, and she is just what the Not Spring Writes Festival Comedy Show needs.  Ithaca, get ready!

Singing Notes & Slinging Jokes: At The Danby Gathery

Last time we were here we were engaged, now that we are back as The McLaurins, and you know its Singing Notes & Slinging Jokes when husband and wife duo, Kenneth and Elbonee “SingTrece” McLaurin share a stage. If the on-stage connection between the two seems cute and charming, its because they got it honest. Partners in life, and creativity they merge, music, song, storytelling, and comedy, into an intimate experience which is an invitation as the couple takes you on a journey of song and stories about life, love, and laughter.

International singer, songwriter, playwright, actress, and premier hug giver SingTrece is a Superhero whose superpower is to sing to your spirit and your soul. It’s inspiring when you hear Singtrece sing: you’re listening, hearing, feeling every word, living through every song with her.

Changing Lives One Positive Note At A Time” is SingTrece’s motto and life’s mission, which she expresses through her music. Enjoy an intimate experience with SingTrece as she sings inspirational songs about life, love, and our shared human experiences. And her talent is matched by her planet-sized personality, charming and inspiring people from the stage before doling out warm hugs all around after the show is over.

“The amazing standout performance was by Kenneth McLaurin, who is arguably the funniest comic working in the area. McLaurin has a professional and compelling stage presence. There is something organic about his performance. It is all a fluid piece. The material, his delivery, his physicality are all unified and remarkably funny.”

Kenneth McLaurin, the North Carolina native has long gone by the moniker, “The Funniest Person You’ve Never Heard Of.” But after the release of his album “Cuttin’ Up, Comedy at The Shop”, that is changing. As a southern boy, living in Upstate NY, Kenneth’s southern fried outlook on parenting, marriage, divorce, our culture, and life in general, keeps audiences laughing with his infectious energy and affable nature.

See you there.

Still can’t get over the fact that I’m married…. And I’m loving it! 💪🏾

It’s been 55 days since I got married I now I’m just posting about it. That just means that being married is way more fun than posting on blogs or social media.

Quick update for those who care…

1. Our wedding, “The Sheremony” made it into the paper. Read about The Wedding that cost no $, and is going to change the wedding industrial complex forever. 👇🏾

2. We had some new comedians come up from NYC, and a show in a new space. The Hilton Garden Inn is looking nice, and we are looking forward to more shows at the HGII!

3. Had a Valentine’s Day show and raised $400 for IHS Morocco Club for their upcoming trip to Morocco. 🇲🇦

4. Performed for the GIAC Black History Talent Show. It was fun, and I got to share a story that is a little piece of our Ithaca story.

5. Just Lovin Being Married💕

Wedding Bells: SingTrece and Kenneth McLaurin are getting married!

Singtrece is GETTING MARRIED. Which is both surprising and not surprising at the same time. That she is marrying Kenneth McLaurin is pretty Damn surprising.
Apparently, each of them found in the other person the correct amount of crazy that makes this a match made in heaven. Proving that there is hope for everyone, and God has a sense of humor.

This is going to be the best wedding you have ever attended. Music! Comedy! SingTrece, Kenneth, our Mamas, our family and hopefully you, our friends!

You can come to the service at 2pm, the reception at 4:30pm or both. Just make sure you get your tickets. Both are available from the drop-down menu.

It is going to be a very special edition of Singing Notes and Slinging Jokes, Wedding Bells. Usually, the highlight of our show is my instrumental solo, but I am going to give that up, so Trece’s father can make it official as Elbonee and I say the words that seal the deal.

Afterward, we are going to hang out, chill, and have some food. Come for the Sheremony (part show, part ceremony) and post Sheremony meal. Or just the Sheremony, or just the meal whichever you can. We just would love to have you be a part of our Nuptial Celebrations.

No need to bring gifts, just give what you can when you RSVP(purchase ticket). But if gifting is on your heart, gift cards are appreciated.

Thanks for your gift/donation we are just trying to help her “Daddy” so he will not have to come out of pocket too much, paying for the wedding.

She Said Yes!
